Why subscribe?

Hi, Arlen here. I love history.

When I’m not online, I’m a documentary filmmaker. Lately I’ve been writing forgotten history threads on Twitter. People seem to like them. But there’s just so much going on over there that it’s easy to miss really good stuff.

You can subscribe to this free Substack so you don’t miss one of my history stories. Plus, some people also prefer to read articles on a normal webpage or inside an email–instead of Twitter so this is great for that too. If enough people subscribe to this, I’ll start posting exclusive stuff on here. You can stay tuned by subscribing. Did I mention it’s free to subscribe?

Who are you again?

I’m a documentary filmmaker you’ve never heard of. Here’s my official website. Get as creepy as you like if that’s your thing.

But honestly, I just love history–and I especially love making history accessible to people in a way that isn’t boring. That’s what I’m trying to do with this forgotten history newsletter project. I send emails periodically whenever I have some neat history to share. For now there’s no set schedule. My goal is for each edition to be like a little treat that lands in your email inbox.
